Talk about the intriguing world of Barenaked Ladies Records!| Who have you seen in concert? | | Just wondering what pop/rock stars you've seen in concert and what were they like? Over the years some of the concerts I've been to include:Lionel Richie - Great concert but halfway through the concert he shouted "Hello London" even though he was in Dublin. Everyone laughed and I shouted back "That's ok Michael". LOL!Brittany Spears - Very disappointing. She jazzed some of her songs up and my two daughters didn't recognise the music at all.Michael Lee Roth - Good concert but MLR slipped on the stage and demanded that somebody come out and wipe it. David Bowie - Tour of the Glass Spider. It was brilliant. He's terrific. The Cranberries - Great concert.Randy Crawford - Really enjoyed her concert even though it was only a small concert.Michael Jackson - Absolutely spectacular concert and I'll never forget all the children coming out on to the stage and singing "We are the world"Steve Earle - I'd never heard of Steve Earl until I won tickets to his show. I was really impressed.Melissa Etheridge - I won tickets to this concert too and bought her cds afterwards because I liked her music so much.Chris de Burgh - I was just 14 when I went to this...
| | First Concert? Favorite Concert? | | It's a shame to see live concerts becoming less popular as the music industry shifts to iPod and computer listening. For me, I still love going to concerts, because you can really appreciate music when you see it played. I haven't been to too many concerts, and a lot of the ones I have been to have been repeat artists. I hope that I will be able to start going again. My first: Barenaked Ladies
My favorite: O.A.R. "We are the world"Steve Earle - I'd never heard of Steve Earl until I won tickets to his show. I was really impressed.Melissa Etheridge - I won tickets to this concert too and bought her cds afterwards because I liked her music so much.Chris de Burgh - I was just 14 when I went to this concert. It was great, obviously, because it was my first concert. I fainted twice and wasn't let back in the second time. I'm going to see Dolly Parton next March and I'm really looking forward to it. If anyone else has seen her in concert, I'd love to hear about it.
| | New twist on poetry | | I wrote a poem that uses the names of bands to describe people, scenery, and states of mental being. With my Twisted Sister and some Barenaked Ladies,
I begin Stabbing Westward; searching for a Vertical Horizon.
I make a Nightwish and continue upon our journey.
An REO Speedwagon zooms by as we turn onto Riverside Drive.
The writing on the wall tells me that "Daphne Loves Derby",
but I am unmoved.
Things begin to feel Twiztid
As I fall victim to this Mindless Self Indulgence.
I search for refuge Three Doors Down,
but find only some Garbage and Letters to Cleo.
It is then that I realize I must find A Fire Inside
Or sink in this Drowning Pool.
Have I become Disturbed and my soul Staind?
Or have I lost myself searching for Our Lady Peace
In the hopes that she would be my Lamb of God?
| | whats the best and hardest word | | that you have ever heard in a song, for me it would have to be australeopithicus, from the history of everything by the barenaked ladies. What do you think is the hardest/best word you have ever heard in a song? | |
| | Favorite CDs | | Okay, I'll admit it: I have pretty eclectic music tastes. I like a little of everything, but there are certain albums I never want to be without. They are, in no particular order:Eric Clapton Unplugged
Natalie Merchant Tiger Lilly
NIN Pretty Hate Machine
White Stripes Elephant
Barenaked Ladies Gordon
Sarah McLachlan Fumbling Toward Ecstasy
Kim Hill Arms of Mercy
Chris Rice Deep Enough To Dream

| | If I Had a Million Dollars | | I don't know if you have ever heard the Barenaked Ladies song "If I had a Million Dollars", but there is a line in it that talks about buying lots of Kraft Dinners (aka mac and cheese) - so that got me thinking, what oddball things would you buy if you had a million dollars? Throw out the responsible ideas of a home, college funds, helping out family, yadda yadda yadda, - it has to be something different and fun like mac and cheese. What would you buy?

| | 60+ Songs Worth Listening to(by B Nelson)~~~ | | Some of these you may have heard, but probably not all. All of these songs are either profoundly intelligent or darn funny. Challenge yourself to listen to some of those you are not familiar with. These songs all have messages or meanings, many. Lyrically these are all very powerful songs. These are not necessarily favorite songs, just those In no particular order, some you know, many you will not.1A day in the Life - The Beatles. Perhapstheir greatest work, John sings the first part, Paul, the second. Shows the separate directions they were going in styles prior to the break up of the Beatles.2Synchronicity II - The Police. Contrasting the mundane life of a family and a legendary creature. Very ominous song. 3Paradise by the Dashboard Lights - Meatloaf.A teen anthem, was actually against premarital sex, and how life turns as we get older.4The Skin Deeps - The Stranglers. A song about what "REAL" friendship means. 5Beautiful Day- U2. Beautiful Song with descriptive imagery. 6We are the Champions - Queen.
